US Senate: 'sunshine' isn't necessarily good for you
I'd missed a CSM piece from May 27 on the nuclear option compromise.
The piece argues that introduction of TV and sunshine laws into the Senate has stymied senator-to-senator communication, and pushed business down to the less productive arena of staff discussions.
Deals like the seven-plus-seven deal on the nuclear option are a rarity these days. The three-day workweek doesn't help, either.
An example of the law of unintended consequences for future reference. (I'm assuming for the moment that the argument is right, of course.)
