FDA nominee hit by bipartisan Senate holds
Confirmation of Lester Crawford as FDA Commissioner is subject to holds by Murray and Boxer over the stall on a decision on over-the-counter sale of emergency contraception.
And, from the anti-abortion side of the aisle,
Sen. Tom Coburn (R-Okla.) has said he will place a hold on the nomination until the agency issues congressionally mandated new labeling for condom packages that outlines limits on their effectiveness.
Which makes me wonder, How does an FDA Commissioner ever get confirmed? The Agency is bound at any one time to be offending pros or antis or (most likely) both!
