Congressional Black Caucus: no longer regular!

The first sign I had (May 5) was seeing five CBC sponsors for the latest loan-sharking bill, HR 1295.

I have a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore.

This is not accidental: according to Cummings of Maryland, as quoted,
It is a blessing that we are now moving into these diverse populated districts, but at the same time it brings new challenges.

It must be progress that the black electorate is no longer a caste block [1] in which race trumps social and economic interests every time, but is now functioning a good deal more like the white electorate.

But, for the Dem Congressional leadership, it's a complication.

  1. Castes have developed in the last two or three decades into a powerful means of political mobilisation in India.
