Social security history - SSA a treasure-house

A good deal of the New Deal alphabet-soup soon disappeared: NRA, WPA, CCC, etc. The Social Security Administration gives thanks for its continued existence by an excellent history section to its site, including a storehouse of its founding documents.

(By contrast, I go to the Department of Education site, on the offchance of finding stuff relevant to the Powell Amendment [1] - and nada. No history page at all. As if the whole department came down in the last shower...)

  1. It's not gone away, you know, as America's favourite terrorist once said.
