Help - reinstate the House ethics truce fast!
If it actually needs reinstating, that is.
Another prod around in the cesspool of House corruption dredges up the Korea-U.S. Exchange Council, described as
a business-financed entity created with help from a lobbying firm headed by [Tom] DeLay's former chief of staff, registered under the Foreign Agents Registration Act on Aug. 22, 2001.
The KUEC, it seems, has been generous with Korean hospitality to various House members and their people - notably to DeLay and his suite.
But by no means all of those entertained were Republican:
Several other lawmakers and aides, including an adviser on Asian affairs to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), also accepted trips from the group as recently as last year, according to congressional disclosure forms. Pelosi spokeswoman Jennifer Crider said that "there was no reason to think this group was anything other than a charity."
Better forget that high moral ground, I'm thinking.
Be it not forgotten that Pelosi has had the odd ethics problem herself in the past (October 1 2004): the FEC imposed fines for illegal operation of her PACs.
